I know but the whole idea of remote start is exactly that.

It only applies in public streets though, not in private driveways.

I wonder how this applies to semi's which are left running all the time in cold weather because otherwise they can't get them restarted?

I get that but the cops... not so much. It's a stupid law to be honest I bet they warm up the police cars, etc. Anyone who lives where it gets really cold is going to as well.

USUALLY, it is a law that is only enforced when a car is stolen and the victim, while giving their statement to the police, or another witness, states that the car was left running and unattended. THEN the policeman issues a ticket because their dumbassery has now turned into a PITA for them.

As much crime as there is in Jackson and this is what the police worry about?

I see a couple of reasons why:

1. city is in financial trouble and as cities like that will often do, they will start with the petty fines/tickets of the citizens there.

2. rookie cop trying to pad his numbers/metrics.

Either way, it's pathetic.

What kind of thinking makes criminals out of honest people because real criminals will break laws.
