BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - Brevard County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Wednesday morning after they say he ignored firefighters' commands and tried to save his dogs from his burning home.

Brevard County Fire Rescue crews responded to 2387 Victor Road at around 5 a.m. Wednesday after someone called 911 to report the fire.

Tackled him and face planted?
He was not a criminal.
He was a home owner.
Why couldn't they just nicely arrest him instead of tackling as if he was going to kill someone?

Lightbulb Man arrested trying to save dogs from house fire.

Sounds like the local yokels felt their manhood was being challenged, so they had to arrest the guy.

Brevard County sheriff's spokesman David Jacobs said his deputies suspected Joyner was intoxicated when they arrived, and they feared what he may have done with the ax if he was impaired.
Not buying it.

Looks like the owner was the only one who cared for the dogs.
I think they are toasted.

He was putting the firefighters at risk. And that could have killed one or more of the Fire Fighters.

They had to stop him from running inside, My Guess is he was not going stop short of being tackled, handcuffed, and put in a Squad Car.

If they let him go inside and he did not come back out then Fire Fighters would need to go in, Risking there lives to go find him and drag him out (Possible combatively) in there full fire gear. Where they could get trapped in the fire itself.
