Girls basketball team gets booted from league for being too good | Fox News

What kind of bullcrap excuse is that?

I don't care if your team is "too good". You don't deserve to get booted from the league for that.

This makes about as much sense as kicking North Dakota State out of the FCS for being "too good".

The other teams should be grateful to compete against them. It will make the other teams better players. It is the "too good" team that should feel cheated for having to play with less talented teams.

Well, they CAN NOT take the chance of damaging the self esteem of the other members of the league, can they? Heaven forbid that they should actually have to try harder!
IMO, they should kick the "I don't want to play against THEM, they are too good!" teams out of the league. They obviously are not good enough to be in a league!

If the girls don't want to play they should just cancel the entire league.

In highschool we had to play one of the local schools that had a total enrollment of 17 in grade 8. So they fielded a team of 6 boys. (all but 1 of the boys in the grade played)

They agreed to play us since we didn't have very many opponents in the area but they said we could only play our worst 6 people. My team still won like 75-5.

Well in this case, everyone except the best team.

I don't know if this is the case here, but I do know that some teams are "stacked" with great players from all over the county, for example, and are like beasts. This is often the case with the Little League World Series or club teams. Sometimes, though they're the same age, kids on one team are much taller and bigger than kids on the other because they're recruited to make one strong and skilled team. I don't exactly think this is fair for such low levels of play (as kids, to create such monster teams just to win and be the best) but I also don't think it's fair for anyone to refuse to play them. I think the lesson for the kids of the other teams should be to play their best and don't be discouraged. To put forward their best effort regardless of the other team's performance, to not be afraid of losing. Regardless of the circumstances, I think this should be the attitude.
