Shopper spotted packaged avocados and took offense at seemingly unnecessary use of material.

Similar to some people that complained when a U.K. store offered packaged sliced orange.

Canadian grocery store is in hot water over pre-peeled avocados

Quote:
A woman was shopping at her local Sobey's grocery store in Thornhill, Ontario when she spotted pre-peeled, halved avocados on sale.

The friend of the shopper, Christine Kizik, posted about the avocados on the grocery store's Facebook page, saying she was "surprised and disappointed" that the store would stock a product with seemingly unnecessary packaging.

"Avocado's have their own perfect, compostable, wrapping. Adding packaging to an avocado is strange to say the least. This is wasteful and I'm curious about the reasoning," Kizik wrote.

But they're just FINE with pre-peeled eggs. I see packs of peeled eggs at Costco all the time and try to figure out who's so darned lazy to buy those.

The woman should be fined for trying to dig something up that offended her.

Give her 15 days in jail.

What? I have never seen such nonsense at Costco and we go there biweekly. Are you sure it wasn't a stuffed egg meal of some sort?

How do they keep them from turning brown?
Strange, people have to go to the grocery store to get offended.

They're likely treated with citric acid and then vacuum sealed. No air to oxidize them.

If people don't buy them, stores won't sell them. Simple enough.

Yep, I'm sure. Shake my head every time I see 'em. I don't care about the extra packaging, I'm just amazed that there's a market for such things...
