"Daisy Lynn Torres went in this morning for a routine cavity filling and under the advice of the dentist was put under anesthesia, when the unthinkable happened. Daisy quit breathing and was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital where despite efforts by the hospital staff, she passed away this morning."

This is very sad and also frightening. Also, why was a 14 month old baby getting cavities filled? I had more than my share of cavities when I was a child (too many) but I never thought this was a "routine" visit for such a young child.

What a shock for the parents.

14 months does seem young.

How awful for the parents.

Rotting teeth or cavities, probably due to sleeping with the bottle/juice.

Dentistry is barbaric medicine. In any event. A dentist shouldn't be giving sedation without an anesthesiologist.

How awful OF the parents as well, what in the hell are you doing getting a 14 month old's cavities filled? Those teeth fall out, what were they thinking?

Filling cavities of baby teeth that will fall out anyway is a racket that dentists have been doing to fleece insurance companies for years.

I do wonder how a 14 month old could already have cavities. Our local dentist told us that once she saw a baby whose parents had been giving him Mountain Dew, of all things. So of course the child had cavities.

Very sad story all around.
