Everyone hates paying bank fees. But imagine paying fees on a ghost account you didn't even sign up for.
That's exactly what happened to Wells Fargo customers nationwide.
On Thursday, federal regulators said Wells Fargo employees secretly created millions of unauthorized bank and credit card accounts -- without their customers knowing it -- since 2011.
5,300 Wells Fargo employees fired over 2 million phony accounts - Sep. 8, 2016

This is really unbelievable. Why isn't anybody going to jail for this?

I thought the same thing. Jail. I also wonder how thousands of employees, were involved in the same type of crime. Thankfully I haven't had trouble with them. Knock on wood.

They have to hit quotas to keep their job.
Higher numbers to hit bonus.
There develops a system between the people at the branches to do this.
It becomes culture.
Something similar happened in Dallas.

Bankers don't go to jail unless they are on the outside (just like politicians).

Now that they are fired they might want to watch their arses.

Step 1: Wells Fargo finds out and fires lots of people.
Step 2: FBI gets involved
Step 3: Lawsuits & arrests

You guys are jumping the gun, some folks are indeed going to jail over this, it just hasn't happened yet.

I am of course open to wagers by people saying no one will go to jail.

Every time I say I hate banks, someone always sarcastically says, "are you just going to hide your money under mattress?" Well, it sounds a lot less craze with each passing day.
