The singer and songwriter Bob Dylan, one of the world’s most influential musicians, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,” in the words of the Swedish Academy.
On May 3, 2006, satellite radio listeners tuned in to the sultry growl of a living legend who took them on a thematic journey through musical history. And I'm of his generation. I'm noticing a continuous cheapening of the the prize.---like giving the Peace Prize to Obama for just winning the election back in 2008. 'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form

I'll give ya shelter from the storm...
...Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line

If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born
Come in, she said
I'll give ya shelter from the storm
