Woman badly burned after farting during surgery | New York Post

I apologize to those who think this thread is crASS.

I have to wonder if this story is even true.

The article claims it happened back in April. Odd that it is just now making the news. Seems like the woman (or her family) would have gone to the press.

The last line of the article says the hospital is the only one in Japan to use robots during surgery. Was the woman being operated on by robots?

It's probably an onion article that the newspaper picked up as a real story. Modern media has gotten so bad anymore that it's now routine to have fake stories popping up and the quality of the information is atrocious as they race to put out information and worry about correcting it later.

Ive seen this story all over. I am not buying it. Either its a fake story all together or the premise is wrong.

Based on the article, this happened in April of this year - and we're just now hearing about this?!

Flatus is flammable. The laser ignited the gas and the paper drapes covering the patient caught fire.

The report was just made even though the incident happened in April. That is why it just made the news.

Operating room fires are fortunately rare though not unheard of, and the circumstances of the one in the OP are unusual.

Were there no human doctors in the operating room? I'm not understanding why she got burned so badly...unless the robots weren't programmed to react to fire. Poor woman. Burns are the worst.
