All it took was getting his wife a corn dog for Richard Britt to win $5 million in a scratch-off.
The 50-year-old Temple man walked into the Red Top Food mart on Highway 78 to run the small errand when he decided to buy a Millionaire Jumbo Bucks lotto ticket, Georgia Lottery officials said.
“My wife asked me to go and pick up a corn dog,” he said. “I bought a ticket since I was already there.”
Britt called his wife when he realized he’d won.
“Neither one of us could believe it,” he said. “I’m still surprised that I won.”
My wife and I do this, sort of. When we are on a road trip and pull over in some strange spot for gas or snacks we will often buy a lotto ticket.
We haven't won yet. Maybe we should start eating corn dogs?
good for them .. i know a fellow who won a quarter million and know of a woman who won a cool million on $2 scratch offs .. good for them .... i spent 100 $ and won 60 one time ....
I once received three lottery tickets in a Christmas card from a supervisor. Each was a winner, for a total of $7. And once in college I worked in a convenience store in Wisconsin right after they started their lottery. I damaged a ticket and had to buy it for $1. I won my dollar back.
That's it for me. I don't voluntarily pay more in taxes than I'm required to pay.
Oh the tax on stupidity some times does pay off...rarely. But its a good story when it does
It's only stupid if you can't afford it. For a lot of people, myself included, it's just a bit of entertainment with a dash of wishful thinking. No worse than an occasional trip to a casino or blowing money on a concert just for the fun of it.
They aren't. However the 5 million dollars is good for you. I swear I would bronze that corn dog and put it on a stand. The 5 MMMIIILLLIIIOOONNNN DOLLAR CORN DOG.
