We had a solar eclipse in the UK in March 2015, we were advised not to look directly at it and everything just went dark for a while. I did look up to see the sun covered, and it was impressive to an extent but not worth travelling thousands of miles to see.
A 5 hour trip to totality, 94 % where I'm at. I wouldn't deal w/ the traffic, gas & hotel issues. Rather watch Weather Channel. Lots of parties everywhere. Beautiful event.
My co-workers think there will be a full eclipse in CA. I don't think so. They have the power of the internet at their fingertips, yet not a single one went online to see what time and where exactly the full eclipse is happening. It's happening in Salem, OR at 10:17 AM, so a partial eclipse here, yet they were all freaking out at 10 AM. They are driving me nuts!!

No photos, but it was really cool. It only was 73% here I think and overcast but we still got some good views in the patchy clouds, I was kind of surprised how cool it was considering it wasn't totality and having to wait for clouds to move. Glad I ordered filters, wound up handing them out to friends and even a grocery store employee
