Make sure you have protective eyewear if you are tempted to look up. If this isn't allowed, my apologies but I saw these in my feed today as being a good deal.
As thrilled as I am going to be to see this eclipse from inside the path of totality, I'd literally be ONE HUNDRED TIMES more thrilled to see the massive star Betelgeuse explode as a supernova, which most models forecast would be as bright as a full moon!
Unfortunately, while its mathematically possible to happen in my lifetime, the odds are still slim as it could just as easily be 200,000 yrs from now.
Reputable sources for safe eclipse glasses: https://eclipse.aas.org/resources/solar-filters (Beware - Amazon currently has a lot of counterfeit glases being sold. The glasses B&H Photo is selling in the link above are safe.)
Slightly OT, but related: an article about the problem of knock-off glasses being sold on Amazon which may not meet safety standards, and what is being done about it. https://qz.com/1040159/solar-eclipse...commendations/
Not unrelated at all. Anyone who feels the need to watch this eclipse with glasses purchased from Ebay had better invest in a seeing eye dog first.

Easiest thing was to make a PINHOLE HELIOSCOPE, simply from 2 pieces of cardstock (see link below).
The COOLEST thing (and NONE of the teachers or 'scientists' were telling us to look for) though was seeing HUNDREDS of tiny 'eclipses' being naturally projected on the ground (or wall) being created by small gaps in the leaves of trees!!!!!!! (similar to what the link below states about a 'colander')
