Poor little fluffs must have been so desperate to make that sort of swim. I can't believe how mean some people are to cats sometimes, they give so much back for how little they ask in return.

Yeah, I would have been over there stomping all over that island to see if there were any more. Even though I have one kitty and don't need any more. lol

The fishermen DID go back, the next day, and checked the island from which Warrior and River swam to their boat - no additional kittens or cats were found.

Red tabbies are noted for being exceptionally friendly, gentle, people-oriented cats. Warrior and River were/are beautiful medium-haired, playful, and gentle - how someone could have kept them for twelve weeks (their estimated age at the time of their rescue) then abandoned them so cruelly is beyond me. I also have fear for the fate of their mama-cat.

People, if you don't want cats or kittens, there are better ways than dumping them in a river or abandoning them on an island. The Warrior River is very, very wide at this point, and it was solely good fortune that brought those wonderful fishermen by the right place at the right time.

Get your cats neutered and spayed. It's a great investment (know I'm preaching to the choir here!).

Shortly after Warrior and River were rescued, their fishermen finders started a non-profit using their images to raise funds for animal welfare. I didn't keep up with their Facebook page for very long, but they did raise quite a bit initially.

THANK YOU for posting this!!! If you haven't already, could you post this in the Pet / Cat category? I would but I don't know how to copy/paste someone else's posting in another category.

Katie, just copy the blue Youtube link at the bottom of the video.

But it didn't happen in Texas. This is an old video.

What is it with some CD posters that they have to turn innocent comments into major deals? sheesh. Check the entire planet? I'd roll my eyes too but I think that's so immature.
Well, heavens, don't let that stop you! This is C-D!

most mammals have an instinctual ability to swim, among the exceptions are humans, great apes and giraffes...I knew about the humans but confesse I'm trusting the link on the other two. Although, come to think of it, I've never seen a great ape ride a giraffe in a lake
