The FDCF had prior contact with this family. Too bad they didn't "work with the Sheriff's office" before the child died. And the people involved didn't know that 325lbs on a 9 year old child for 10 minutes- plus an extra 2 minutes for good measure would suffocate the girl? Are they really that stupid? They need to arrest and prosecute every adult that was present when this happened.

In light of this tragedy, it's a minor thing.... but just how does a 64 year old woman have a 9 year old cousin?
If there is a large age difference between siblings...this is possible. Having a young cousin when the Aunt or Uncle is much older.

And yes, something is amiss to wield such a punishment on a child. The 64 year old must have some mental issues....

This is why you need to neuter the poor and allow them to freely have abortions. These effing people will just keep breading like rodents and will produce children that they don't give a $hit about. The children end up in broken homes with terrible parents, undisciplined, socially inept and will no future. What is the percentage of of these children in the poor communities living a productive life? What percentage becomes criminals?

Why can't someone who has the guts to see the forest from the trees step forward and do something about this? Unfortunately there are those idiots who believe you will go to hell for aborting a fetus and will do everything to stop this from happening. Those same clowns will tell you what to do with your fetus but would never bother to take a kid from a broken home or adopt one.

Am I reading this correctly.... "Posey was released Monday on $125,000 bail. (The aunt who actually killed her was released on bail?) The Smiths remained in jail, with Grace Smith's bond set at $75,000 and James Smith's bond at $50,000. (But the parents, are still in jail???) Escambia County jail records didn't list an attorney for Posey or the Smiths."

They should all be rotting in jail right now!!!

Well, it's not like the aunt is a flight risk. If they take her rascal scooter away they wouldn't even need to ankle monitor her because she couldn't make it to the mail box.

Another consideration about the "cousin" thing is that the newspaper reported it wrong. They get stuff wrong all the time and may have meant to write aunt or that she was the moms cousin etc.

Very possible, but maybe the killer just had a better attorney on tap. If she'd already been flagged somehow as dangerous to kids and the parents knew that and left them alone together, bingo -- failure to protect causing death of a vulnerable minor. If the killer is, say, on disability due to mental illness the parents might be seen as more culpable than she is.

My father is going to be 78 in 2 weeks and he has an 11 year old first cousin. His mother's youngest sibling (brother) married a woman young enough to still be able to have children, and they had two sons. Their other son is around 20-21 or so. He was born in 1920 (youngest out of the kids in his family), and is no longer living.

And if they do lose sight of her, just check the local McDonalds.

I'd guess it is a cousin's child or grandchild - so 1st cousin once removed or twice removed etc. But who knows?
