I have no empathy for any one that shops on Black Friday, Thanksgiving Day, etc. and gets into a scuffle, their fault or not. If you go near the fire, you just may get burned. Material things just aren't worth it.
Nothing says "Holiday Savings" like a black eye, 16 stitches or a busted hip......I did one Black Friday as a deli clerk, really boring, but wouldn't do it again....
The alleged broken hip was an employee injured by a customer.
I couldn't see what they were fighting over, but it sure looked like the employee did something and the guy went after him. I remember when I was in the training for Black Friday, I asked "What if they swing first?" I was told "At that point you can retreat or hold ground and go duke city"
Yes, and someone was shot in a different state. Three different locations are mentioned.
Yeah, the link represents a whole hodgepodge of Black Friday misbehavior. I picked the broken hip for the thread title because I thought it would differentiate it from the more mundane violence so prevalent in society these days. In retrospect I wish I used the phrase 'shattered hip' for the title instead.
Apparently no one read the article. This brawl wasnt about Black Friday merchandise. It was a personal issue that escalated.
That's how most of these articles end up being each year. The media is so desperate to report on Black Friday madness, it seems they'll report any crime that happened within a mile of a store as Black Friday related. The article also mentions a shooting in Columbia Missouri, but when you click on the link for more information it turns out a guy accidentally discharged his gun while trying to holster it in his car. But of course it sounds more exciting to claim it as a Black Friday shooting.
My SO and I do some Black Friday shopping each year, and have never witnessed any thing close to the stories heard on the news. Everyone is always nice and civilized, it's really no different than shopping any other day of the year. Most people are out with their family having a good time.

This is my same experience. I’ve been Black Friday shopping for many years across multiple states and I’ve never experienced anything like the press reports on. Does it exist? Yes, it does happen, but nowhere as frequent as the press (and some others) might want you to think.
