I think it's just more of a "gimmick" to get attention (free press), get people talking about Domino's and be different from the other national pizza chains.

I can total see a Domino's marketing meeting with a bunch of millennials, and one says, how about we offer "carryout insurance" as a joke and everybody else is like, great idea, let's do that!

When I watched the commercial for the first time I was confused because I thought the guy was the delivery man and being clumsy with someone's food. lol
