A couple of years ago, while waiting to use the Soup Bar at Whole Foods, I observed an elderly man ladle-up some chicken noodle soup, and then he proceeded to pick chunks of chicken out of the ladle with his funky fingers. I walked away in disgust, and that was my last visit to a Soup Bar.
Can you imagine how much this has cost blue bell so far and for the rest of the year?
Standing at the cooler, are you going to buy blue bell or another brand? How many people didn't buy any ice cream this week? You can bet Blue Bell is having a "tylenol freakout" over this.
I bought a carton of Bluebell's Raspberry Fudge yesterday (yummy!) I paid extra attention to the lid after prying it open, there is a definite crease line in the lid where it bent back from breaking the suction of the seal.
I'm not defending the actions of this piece of crap but will a virus really survive at 0 degrees? Does anyone really eat the ice cream that's on the lid? ...........
Of course people scrape off the ice cream on the lid. Do you throw away two spoons of ice cream from every carton you buy? It can't be more than you and two other guys who do that. The rest of us scrape the lid and use the ice cream.
Throwing away the ice cream on the lid won't save you; once the lid is licked and placed back on the carton, the ice cream on the lid makes contact with the ice cream in the carton.
Yes, some viruses can survive 0 degrees, but that is a mote point since the freezers at the super market are not kept that low.
My punishment for this stupid girl and her camera man would be to take away six of their fun ice cream licking weekends and have them pick up trash on the roadway for those days. Preferably with a chain gang, if chain gangs are still used in that area.

I’ve been avoiding the soup bar in grocery stores since a lady was caught on video at a local store adding mothballs to the soup. They had several reports of people getting sick and found mothballs in the soup, so put a camera on it and it was some lady who did it for kicks. She had done it several times.

That's the exact reason I don't get soup from that Randalls anymore - a lesson learned. I used to love their broccoli cheese soup, it was delicious. But yes, mothballs really turned me off.
She just died recently, no mention in her obit of the incident. She was sentenced to not go back in that store unescorted, and to seek mental health treatment.
This kind of stuff goes on more than you think. We were at an outdoor hamburger stand at a park here. The grill guy had made several trays of burger and fries and placed them out on a counter for pickup. One of the customers came up trying to figure out which tray belonged to him. He proceeded to pull the top bun off half a dozen burgers fingering the lettuce, tomato and pickle combos until he found his burger. I made the grill guy make me a new burger.
Only 20 years of prison for licking an ice cream? That's not nearly severe enough! That's only somewhat more than the typical sentences for murder, rape, and robbery.
No. REMOVE OF HER TONGUE AND THEN PUT HER ON THE CHAIR
The person is a teenager which I think should be allowed some leniency although I am thoroughly disgusted by her actions. For someone like that, I think giving her a plate of food and then licking it in front of her and not giving her any other food until she ate that would get the point across. Being a part of a road crew picking up trash along the highways would be another good lesson.
I don't know why this was big news, while I don't condone this kind of behavior but in reality people don't realize how contaminated our foods are.
The minute you eat food with your unwashed hands you already contaminated food that are much worse than someone licking ice cream which is harder to contaminate as it is an ice cold surface and few germs can survive.
A car's steering wheel is probably the second most dirtiest surface other than the office desk that we commonly touch. And often people come into an eatery after driving and go straight for the food with their hands without washing.
