I'm the poster from #138 who bought the Breyer's. I'm not a Blue Bell fan. I usually get Talenti gelato but they didn't have my flavors so I was looking for something else.
Talenti has a plastic strip going around the lid. I chose Breyer's because it also had the plastic strip.
Knowing social media I figured there would be copycats sooner than later and this morning I read about the guy in Louisiana.
A few more copycats and we'll see more ice cream containers with those plastic strips.

Yes, I like those outside strips, too. And even the plastic film covering the ice cream are difficult to remove.
I hate how these disgusting acts are going viral. I’ve seen about 5 different lick/spit/etc videos since this first one. They need to publicize the arrests and punishments of these clowns to deter people.

Yes, I saw the one in Louisiana with Blue Bell and another one with a different brand in California. That carton looked like one I see at Whole Foods (the name escapes me).
The freaks really are coming out. Can't call this one a copycat, though, as it happened back in June. Just goes to show you how sick some people are. Just think about how often things like this are happening where there are not cameras present Sadly, with all the publicity over these incidents, I fully expect more copycats.
Blue Bell announced on Monday that it would add more protection to its ice cream after the two incidents.
