Now here in Colorado, you could have gotten more than you bargained for but it sounds like Mom needs to chill anyway ...
Mom WAS chill. The only way Dairy Queen found out about the mistake was because daughter posted about it on her Facebook, and the post (with a picture of the cake) went viral. And then it got back to the local Dairy Queen.
Moana does sort of sound a little bit like Marijuana. And weed is legal here in MA, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this sort of stuff anyway now.
Besides...what 25 year old likes Moana? I can actually see this being plausible the other way as well "I wanted a damn Marijuana cake for my 25th bday and they made me a Disney character cake!"
So much drama over nothing. It would be too late, take too long to do another cake, but take only a few minutes to scrape off the marijuana leaf and replace it with something tropical or a sea horse or that popeyed chicken. Might not turn out to be a Moana cake, but perfectly acceptable.
Or, who knows, maybe it was a ploy by the cake customer to try to get a free cake. "That's not Disney, but I'll take it as a free gift. The customer is always right, you know."
I don't think the cake is done well at all. The hand writing size is not consistent.
That's what I say too. Why wasn't the bad design noticed and redone? Not that hard to pull it all off, redo the top and put what's supposed to be there or grab a new cake

A couple of tokes and you'll swear Van Gogh decorated the cake.
This. You mean they just paid for it and left without ever looking at the thing? That’s on them, not the store.
Per another poster, the customer never complained about the cake. They just posted it because they thought it was funny. I would have too. When Dairy Queen saw the post, that’s when they fired the worker. But no one complained about the cake.
She’s a minimum wage Dairy Queen employee, not a professional baker
I understand that but after a year of doing cakes, I'd think she'd be better at writing on cakes.
