Like slaves? The guy would not even get out of the car that is the laziest POS ever. Would you be OK if the garbage man made you dump your own trash into the back of the truck and the mailman made you come out to his truck to get your mail?

One of the posters in this thread is a lazy delivery driver. Can you guess which one?

Yeah I noticed that. If you are not willing to make a delivery then you should not have a job as a delivery person. This is not difficult. And no asking the customer to walk all the way to the car is not making a delivery.

This guy should sue Door Dash, how can he not win this case? You should never be hurt for asking a delivery person to do his job. And those punks deserve jail time.

The 2nd one was an example I gave earlier, the trash one was a good one. Wish I had thought of that.

I really think the driver was F'ing with him, seeing how far they could push him, and looking for a reason to beat somebody up. First the driver tells him he needs to come down....guy does that, then driver says "now walk over to the car, I'm not getting out". I think the driver and his buddy were just hoodlums.

I've done Postmates in the past and delivered to homes, apartment complexes, business, etc.

Apartments are the worst and a huge waste of time. Once you actually locate the building that specific apartment is in, you need to find the apartment. It's never fun to walk all the way upstairs only to find out you're at the wrong place.

One time I delivered to some fancy condos off strip. I had to go through 3 security points and the concierge to deliver McDonald's to a woman I am pretty sure she was a stripper. You could smell the ganja from down the hall and a puff of smoke came out when she opened the door LOL. She tipped me in cash- all $1's

Businesses were usually better except the time I got a call in the dead heat of summer (I live in Vegas) to deliver 12 smoothies to a Church. All delivered no spills and ice cold to boot. Not a penny for a tip.
Another time I delivered a $200 Chinese food order that included 5 iced teas. $1 tip.

Thank God I now have a PT evening job to work from home. Therefore, I am now on the receiving end of delivery services. I work FT 7-4 come home and work 5-9 and most Saturdays 8-6. I don't have a lot of spare time to always cook and shop.

With DoorDash you tip up front and I tip generously. Most restaurants close the bag so it should be secure when delivered. I just had my Walmart groceries delivered and tipped the guy. He offered to bring them all the way in but I said no here at the door is fine.

Vast majority of the drivers are nice. A few have been a little sketchy but if my food made it in one piece and not tampered with I am good. DOORdash. It's not called CURBdash as someone else pointed out. They need to bring it to your door. Anything less is lazy on their part and they're not doing their job.

If you don't like it, don't order from DoorDash.
LOL.

Wow. It's like you're saying everything possible to give DoorDash a bad reputation. Almost like you're getting paid to generate bad publicity. Do you secretly work for the marketing department at Grubhub, Seamless or Uber Eats?

Food delivery has always been to the customer's door. Why is this being debated all of a sudden? What next? Uber drivers demanding you come to their house if you want a ride? I mean, you're doing the customer a favor by saving them the hassle of driving all the way to the airport, so the least they can do is drive to your place to hitch a ride.

I was already leaning towards not using DoorDash. This thread just clinches it.

Keep up that garbage customer service philosophy, DoorDash apologists. Not only defending but celebrating laziness and incompetence. "I don't want to go all the way to your door. Life is hard. "

If you don't want to go to apartment or office buildings, don't claim those orders, and let competent drivers who are willing to do their job, take those orders. For every 1 driver that doesn't want to go to a customer's door or to an apartment building, there are probably 20 that have no problem with it.

This is how even food delivery service eventually gets outsourced to a call center in Asia or Costa Rica. It's already done with fast food drive thrus. Someone wearing a headset will just click a few tiles on their computer screens and send a drone to deliver your food.

My goodness. Getting a pizza delivered is one thing, but is it really that much of an inconvenience to actually get your McDonald's yourself.

As for the article, I’m sure that there’s more to the story. If not, it can be explained away as a disgruntled employee who is just making crap wages.

I'll bite, how is going out to pick up a pizza any different than going out to pick up McD's?

I don’t think so. That doesn’t explain why they stole his phone. They were a couple of hoodlums doing this as a side job and probably enjoyed intimidating people while they did it. Also, in a job like this if his wages are crap it’s because he has poor customer service and does not get good tips. At a tip job, you have some control how much you make. I would make $100 in tips on a busy Friday night driving for Domino’s and that was 35 years ago.
