Well, she certainly didn't get any MickeyD's.

The lesson is, that if you're going to misbehave, know what you're doing and where you're going.

"Your mommy's gonna have to come down here and get you"
"She can't"
"Why not?"
"I've got the car"

Get a stick shift car. Problem solved!

My parent was pretty clever, took the battery cables off and locked the hood. Good luck trying to start a car he had rigged .

I hope you're being sarcastic. Perhaps the keys were in a purse, or on a key rack... Why should a mother, whose child has probably never engaged in this behavior prior to this incident, be expected to keep her keys where there's no possible way a 10 year old could get to them? Plus, 10 year olds are pretty smart.

Strange. My parents never did any of that. Four kids, yet none of us ever stole the family car. The punishment would have been brutal. But mostly, the thought never entered our heads. Times have certainly changed, and not for the better, I'm afraid.

Secretly, I would be proud of a kid that was that bold and self-confident, and expressed in ways that were not of ill-intent. And I'd certainly never lock anthing away.

This was just a goofy thing that can happen in any healthy family.

Didn't end well? Everyone got a great family memory, I got worse injuries on my bike, the car dings are covered by insurance.

Times have not changed. I remember hearing these same stories from my parents when I was a kid in the ‘80s. There is always some kid who steals his/her parents’ car and it ends up badly.

This kid has been watching to much Honey Boo Boo. Gosh, it`s terrible to say about a child......but I can`t stand the sight of Honey Boo Boo.

I kind of agree with you. No 10 year old purposely commits a felony. She wanted breakfast, so she did what she had to do to get it. It seems like their family went to McDs often for breakfast; hence, it was not out of the ordinary and she knew where to go.

However, I would lock up the car keys from now on. Just to be safe.
