CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A man was left with broken bones after he said strangers attacked him and his boyfriend in the middle of uptown Charlotte.

The men said they were stopped at a red light on Trade and North Davidson streets when a man asked for a ride.

I see to work with him a while back he was one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Ever. I know things like this still happen but it’s not until it’s someone you know that it really hits you. The fact that my friend got beat like this and the cops deemed it. Misdemeanor charge is B.S! I don’t believe this is a hate crime though knowing there have been several attacks in that area.

reed067 - I saw this earlier today and it makes me sick. I don't know if it was a hate crime but the lowlifes that beat these young men deserve to be under the jail.

Sadly, Charlotte is becoming less and less civilized. We even have a lunatic sheriff that refuses to work with ICE - he doesn't care that he is putting innocent people at risk. One of our esteemed Charlotte criminals stole a car and assaulted 3 police officers - he was wearing an ankle monitor and had been ARRESTED 63 TIMES! What the Hexx was a person with 63 arrests doing with an ANKLE MONITOR????

I am sorry about your friend. I hope the perps are caught and I hope they spend a lot time in prison. This crap needs to STOP.

Hopefully it's an A1 misdemeanor second conviction.
