I think many people watch the Super Bowl halftime show -- and the advertisements -- precisely so they can be disappointed, and act all OMG, THAT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TERRIBLE! drama-queenish over it.
I think these people would actually be upset if they liked it; then they wouldn't have anything to whine about...
The ladies did look amazing but come on the halftime show should be a family affair not a stripper show with booty shaking, pole dancing and crotch shots.
I'm confused because I thought women these days demanded that they be viewed as more than sex objects but there they are on TV shaking the goods and showing lots of skin?
Are we supposed to see these women as brave? as powerful women that are using their assets because they can and not because some man told them they had to?
The worse part was when the kids came on and started singing. We have what I would call a PG13 show going on and then the kids came along to what? give the ladies a chance to catch their breathe?
I can only imagine what little girls across America were thinking as they watched that show. They have been repeatedly told by so many in this #metoo world etc.. that women are more than their bodies yet there are 2 prominent entertainers that many look up to using their bodies.
The Superbowl is supposed to be a family event and the halftime show certainly sent a mixed message to both young girls and boys.
Definitely wasn't surprised by it. J Lo is acclaimed more for her physical appearance than she is for any talent she might have. Of course she's going to showcase her body.
The camera angles didn't do either of them any favors. When the camera is on the ground and they're on the stage thrusting away, it's not very family friendly.
I have to admit there was one moment when J Lo bent over that I cringed. I'm embarrassed (for her) that she feels like she has to go that far.
It's not so much the pole dancing and other vulgar displays that annoy me, that nonsense has been going on for decades and it's perfectly 'acceptable' family entertainment these days.
What I find supremely annoying is how so utterly unoriginal these half time shows are.
Why does it always have to be singers every darned year? And all the same props and sets, people around the stage with chem lights, lighted props, annoying backup dancers, lighted stage, yada yada yada. So boring, who wants to see these singers with the same old stale songs and routines?
The NBA does it right with its half time shows during regular season by having acts like Chinese acrobats, etc.
