I think these guys were just looking for a confrontation to video. Everyone wants to be some internet sensation these days, and being a victim is a great way to go viral.
A delivery person has zero obligation, unless it is company policy, to tell some random person who he is making a delivery to.

Yea, right.

Yea, that's it, they were just looking for someone to drive their pickup up to their delivery truck, block their route, and then walk up to the cab they are sitting in and demand to know why they are doing their jobs in my neighborhood.

Amazing that it turned out exactly like they planned it.

Just sounds to me like people who had to make some kind of point and claim to be victims. But maybe somewhere in the article they said they politely answered the man, and he still blocked them? A gated community is gated for a reason, people who live there don't want people of any color in the neighborhood without a good reason.

I doubt this was racial. More like a guy who was over zealous about neighborhood security, like a neighborhood Barney Fife.
I wouldn't doubt that at all.

I love these people who live in gated communities, most of them think they're better than other people because they live behind a wall. A wall that anyone in halfway decent health could get over no problem.

This man was trying to do his job, and just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you are obligated to answer it. If you saw someone who looked like they might be up to no good, it would be alright to inquire. Certainly not a delivery driver.

Please, in regards to a the "gated community", all it does is give some people a false sense of security.

These morons are also the type reporting neighbors who have expired tags, or their mailbox is the wrong color, now with all that is going on have taken crazy to a whole new level.

What these bozos have no done is drawn attention to their community. Neighbors must be thrilled.

Come on....LOL.

First off not EVERYONE wants to be an internet sensation these days.

Second, now think about this one real hard. With all the horrible things happening in this country right now, and the shooting in Georgia, do you realty think these guys wanted to have their names, faces, and where they live all over the internet?

And courtesy goes both ways. Treat people the way you would like to be treated, that always amazes me when people(and you're coming off that way) think they're better than people working blue collar service industry jobs....you know like the folks who still pick up your trash, and who keep those shelves stocked...hmmm.

Yes, it was racially motivated.

It seems that would be hard to look up, and by the time they were able to get that information they'd realize their customer deserves privacy.

Asking the driver at the time would really be the only quick way to get that information, and apparently it happened because the resident arrived at the scene.

I have no idea whether any of these things are an issue - giving out the gate code, the truck being too big and destructive to be allowed - but IMHO - it's important to at least attempt to hear the other side without making judgements.

Although I will say, the truck driver did an admirable job of not escalating for the hour he was held up.
They can ask all that they want, but I would not give that information out. As I said earlier, some random guy blocking me in and telling me he's an HOA board member, doesn't mean anything to me. I'm there to deliver and move on with my day. At that point, he doesn't have the right to know anything. I don't know who he is - him saying he's somebody proves nothing to me.

Apparently what happened? You think he gave the busy body the information, or did the driver contact the customer to let him know what was going on?

The stop had nothing to do with destruction going on. We already know this because they demanded to know who gave the driver the gate code, and they told the police that the driver was "trespassing". They did not tell the police that this guy was driving a truck through the neighborhood and destroying a bunch of property, they said "trespassing". By their own words, it's pretty easy to know their motive. They thought the driver was up to no good.

We heard both sides. We heard what the instigators said, to the driver and to the police, and we know what the driver said, because he's the one making the video.

I wouldn't get out of my vehicle either. When some crazy person blocks me from leaving, and starts demanding to know what I'm doing - I wouldn't feel safe, either.

He did the video to protect himself from any false accusations. I think everyone should be doing that when they get into some confrontation with some nut bag who acts like Mr. HOA did. Doesn't matter who you are, what size you are, what gender you are, what color you are - if someone starts up something with you, time to start recording because you don't need someone accusing you of something and you have to leave it up to another person to interpret and decide what really happened. Video evidence can show what really happened.

The only "racially motivated" thinking that I can detect in here is coming from those who believe a black man is allowed to drive onto private property with an over-sized truck, damage the landscaping, but then not be stopped and questioned by the community... simply because he's black.

I said the courtesy to, not the legal obligation. You are just defending someone based on emotion. I am just looking at the facts. This was something that could have been avoided with a little give on the part of the supposed victim. Everyone wants to be a big thing on the internet and a crusader for a cause. If this results in a riot, like Ferguson or Baltimore and someone dies, I hope all the parties involved still think this was worth it.
