I got caught up in a doozy around 30 years ago, in Paris.
My wife and I were on a Metro train, (Paris subway), around noon, when the driver made an announcement as we were approaching a subway stop.
People began to groan and get up, and my wife said, “What did he say Jean?”
I told her that he’d said that the train would terminate at the next stop, and everyone must get off and wait for another train.
The train pulled in at the station, and people began streaming off, bi*ching about the delay, when the driver’s tannoy boomed out, “Poisson d’Avril!” (April fish, the French term for April Fool).
Everyone jumped back on, most of them laughing and applauding the driver’s sense of fun.

I wouldn't like it either! But at least it was harmless. I can't imagine why this mom thought fooling her daughter into thinking she was shot would be funny.

Here's another prank that went bad just recently.

A woman who dressed up as an infamous spirit, and roamed the streets moaning, was shot dead by a frightened witness to her stupid prank.

I guess she achieved her goal of scaring people silly.

Not all pranks are abusive, lighten up. Some are fun and harmless.

If the prank is a “practical joke” it is an act of hostility.

Sticking googly eyes on stuff sounds like silly, harmless fun.

The woman masquerading in the middle of the night as a supernatural being probably scared the daylights out of the shooter—hence he reacted. She surely did not think about possible consequences to herself when she planned her prank.

The idiot is most definitely the shooter.
