This looks like it might be related to those mob store invasions. People looking for stuff to sell online, possibly.
Well, now the word is out that the RR companies don't have security on their property. Let the rush begin!
Of all large industries, railroads seem the less concerned about security. I know of no other enterprise, that allows their property to regularly be sprayed with graffiti, and makes no effort to clean up the aftermath. Imagine as a homeowner, having your property vandalized, shrugging your shoulders and letting the property remain status quo years after the act was committed.
Trespassing is regularly tolerated, allowing pedestrians to be struck by trains on a daily basis.
Modern day hobos are an issue. To the point that some YouTubers have a couple of hundred thousand subscribers. As viewers watch their travels around the country aboard freight trains. The railroads and YouTube don't seem to care.
Of course it's related to the mob store invasions. There's no "maybe" about it.
Until your state gets serious and sends in the national guard, and a few of these thugs get hurt or killed, it's only going to increase. Genie can't be put back in the bottle now without major changes.
Happy Sunday!
The changes are going in the opposite direction and gaining momentum.
Which consist of one guy in an F-150, responsible for an entire railroad yard. And he's more times than not, a contractor making slightly above minimum wage. It's not in his best interest to tangle with gangs, the court system, and a posse of angry #BlackLivesMatter moms.

Railroads own more land then any other industry, how could they actually police it? They’d have the largest police force in the world (they probably do now) This direct gigantic cost would be passed onto you and I with outrageous shipping costs.
I follow many of the rail riding YouTubers, I’ve always wanted to ride the rails at some point. VR has tons train cams all over country and one in Canada. Brave Dave came from England and rode from Toronto to Vancouver. Canada took notice and knew he was coming back for another trip, he was denied entrance to country at airport and forced to leave. Now guys are going to Mexico to film as train companies don’t care at all when hordes of people ride in plain sight on trains.
I grew up liking/going and finding trains and always wanted to drive one/work for them. My color blindness with certain colors shot this down, plus how boring it actually is running only certain routes. The pay/benefits/pension ($7k pension per month) is hard to beat.
Not really, commercial entities should be responsible for some of this. Imagine 90 people forcing their way into a store when you have turnstiles or revolving doors. It might not keep them all out but it would slow them down. And would they even try to break in if the stores secured the $1,000 purses so that you couldn't grab a handful and run? As far as the railroad they have their own police force, it it's inadequate then they need to contract with a private firm or hire more people, and they also might want to see who has access to the manifests because something stinks to high heaven, some of articles have mentioned that only one out of four or five containers were broken into, why is that? Could it be that someone told them which ones to open?
So then you would be ok with the railroads posting some guys carrying weapons (at minimum a taser) with orders to shoot any looters? Because I have to tell you -- I'd be just fine with that suggestion. If the socialist government isn't going to do anything, then let the company take matters into their own hands.

And with the exception of imported merchandise, the lion's share of which goes via the Port of Los Angeles / Long Beach, there's not much in most of those containers worth stealing. And. unlike with the case of retail sore invasions, the looters usually have no idea which boxes are carrying "the goodies".
Pity there isn't some way to take the service and/or route out of that area.
I guess the infrastructure right there in that location is critical?
