This worried me about Dollar Tree who owns Family Dollar. I go there every so often. But really it makes me worry about all food stored in warehouses anywhere. Shudder to think about it
There's a newish Family Dollar one block from my house on the commercial street, but I've never been in there. I sure won't be going there now!
Heads need to roll. There was management turning a blind eye and down-playing the severity of the rodent problem. Hopefully all the management of the facility gets canned.

Well that would be up to the big bad government to help make that happen.
Not going to happen when there are no watchdogs.
What's your point? Very modest compensation for the cut-throat retail sector.
Clearly, the culprit is poor local warehouse supervision. I'll wager the local warehouse management team will lose their jobs, as will a VP or two.
And please note:
Quote:
Dollar Tree announced Feb. 18 that Bob Sasser will retire from his role as executive chairman of the company's board of directors prior to its 2022 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, which typically takes place mid-June, and following a more than 20-year career with the retailer.
A Family Dollar near me was closed a few years ago because of this, they had rats living in the ceiling area, above the store, it was a huge problem for the store, the rats would constantly trip the alarms at night, and they would destroy most of the food products they could get to, you could hear the rats scurrying around in the ceiling anytime you went in the store.
This appears to be a company wide problem, and I would not be surprised if this is also a problem at other dollar stores, (all these stores sell the same kinds of products)
Warehouses are difficult places to deal with rodent control.. However.. It has to be done.
I'd think that most of us, at one time or another, have wound up with a mouse in our homes. Hopefully not a full-scale infestation.. But, about once a year, I catch one of the little bastards scurrying around and find yet another pipe or opening that I have to break out steel wool and spray foam to close up.
But, a warehouse, with open doors most of the time.. Depends on what these were. Rats or field mice. Field mice would be near impossible to stop.. You just hope to control it.
Who's to blame here? Well, their pest control company.. And if they don't have one of those.. Then management for NOT HAVING a pest control company. They need bait stations OUTSIDE the building and inside to control the population. Even so, you're never going to have a situation where you have none in that environment. Just have to keep it down to below a dull roar. If you see one, you've got too many.

We have had mouse and chipmunk "invasions" at my home, the water bucket method worked better than traps.
