I hardly think rats in a warehouse is unique to Dollar Tree. I got something from Amazon once that looked like the bag had been chewed open.

They needed to adopt some cats if they are allowed. Sounds like they could spay/neuter a whole colony and keep them well fed with rodents even if they had to build them an outdoor shelter.

This is disgusting. I'm curious if the business will survive.

Family Dollar is closing 400+ stores?

West Memphis warehouse is where the rodents are coming from.

Stores in the South are most effected.

Anyone got a coupla hundred Jack-Russel terriers?

On the lighter side of things, my house has been described by The Men from A B C as very well sealed. When the infrequent field mouse makes it inside, I can picture something like this .........

A CAT! Well, I'm a young, super fast field mouse! I can stay ahead of one old, sleepy cat................

...............(rounds the corner and meets the young ins of The Dirty Half Dozen)......

Weird.

It's hard to believe such a fine, upscale establishment as Family Dollar would have a vermin problem...

Shocking isn't it.

Regardless, they have a legal responsibility to maintain a level of safety standards, same as other companies.

I saw this show where the pest control guy had a bunch of minks - those things went nuts catching a lot of rats in short time and they could get into small areas. I guess mink are considered ace rat hunters, I had no idea they could be trained though.

This type of stores are expanding rapidly lately.
It may seem like there's already one everywhere you look. Their business is booming. Nearly 1 in 3 new stores opening in the US is a Dollar General. Communities feel choked by them.
Dollar General opened 1,000 new stores last year and has 1,050 more in the works for 2021. Dollar Tree, which owns Family Dollar, added roughly 500 new dollar stores in 2020 and plans on opening 600 more this year.
The CEO is making $1.3M a year.

The sad truth:
https://www.consumerreports.org/doll...dollar-stores/
I couldn't imagine buying a crapton of food, at any of those dollar store chains. Sure DG, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree are fun to browse every so infrequently, but the Family Dollar situation(where a lot of food had to be recalled) is EXACTLY why I wouldn't trust buying food at any of those stores myself.

Might as well copy off what some beer microbreweries do, and adopt cats to live there, and chase off rodents that try to sneak inside these warehouses IMO.
