They aren’t in cages, they are in large fenced in areas with lots of ground.
Not all zoos. Im sure they have areas for viewing that are not barn stalls on a farm though.
I'm not the one who posted the picture of the "camel cage". You want to argue about camels in cages take it up with the poster who said they were in cages.
OK thanks. That explains it. 2Mares, thanks. Forgot to quote.
I knew they were "bad-tempered" but wow.
That was the first reporter I heard say how they were killed. I guess the camel didnt like being cornered. I've always felt the best way to get a loose animal back to their enclosure is with a feed bucket, not corner and capture.

We don't know that the guys were trying to catch it, did you read something that said they were?

We are veering a bit off topic with the issue of cages, but camels can't jump so a fairly low fence will keep them in. They don't need a "cage" with high walls and a top.
And yes, the really nice zoos keep camels in stalls. They are brought inside at night or in bad weather and placed in a stall and then let out into a larger fenced area during the day. Their "cage" is more of a corral. Although I doubt that a private petting zoo is going to qualify as a really nice zoo.

And there was my original statement. That this is a petting zoo, located on a rural farm. That it is NOT a zoo. But the argument sprang up and continued that it had to be a zoo because it had a camel and there is a picture of the camel in its "cage".
Now some want to argue the men that were killed were not there to catch the camel.
BTW, I have seen photos of camels in zoos where their viewing containment area has a very high fence with narrow bars I imagine to protect the people from the camels.
