Even 10 minutes feel like an eternity for someone forced to do something against their will. Watch a person with a full bladder and they can hardly hold it. For many this is only for a few seconds until they are able to go to the bathroom, but those few seconds feel like anything but a few seconds if that person has to wait.
I had a 1:15 tarmac delay on arrival waiting for a gate to open up last year. Within a couple of minutes, pilot gave permission for people to get up and use the lavs if needed.
I don't know if any airlines have their own ground crew these days.
Maybe they would have stuck around if directly employed by Jet Blue.
I doubt it. Staffing shortages extend to the airlines too. One of the passengers in the article said her Jet Blue flight out was delayed 5 hours because the flight didn’t have a flight attendant. I think this was probably miscommunication somewhere.
