Okay thanks. That article doesn't seem to have a source for that information, and it doesn't seem consistent with other articles that quote the police as just saying that he was shot at close range from about 4 feet away.

Correct. The entrance is on the other side of the trees that the killer was hiding in.

Just the description sounds like execution style though. Trap is set, exec gets out, bends or kneels down, guy comes up behind him, shoots and leaves. That sounds like an execution to me, based on years of watching Goodfellas and the Sopranos. And all the sources say it looks like he was targeted. Isn’t that an execution?

I haven't seen any reports that he was shot while kneeling. I don't believe police have released any details about exactly how he was killed, except that he was shot and killed as he exited the car. That is not consistent with an execution style killing. It's more like an ambush killing.

But I still think that a carjacking is also a possibility. Looking at pictures of him, he does not look like the type of guy who would let someone just drive off with his car with his child inside, even if someone was pointing a gun at him. I would really like to hear what the autopsy report revealed. But I kind of doubt they will release that information.

“He got out of the vehicle, we believe, to check on that tire,” Jacksonville Beach Police Sgt. Tonya Tator said. “We are investigating why that happened — if it was put there purposefully or if it was just happenstance.”

Jared Bridegan was shot and killed as he exited his car, police said.

Jared Bridegan’s daughter, still in the back seat, witnessed her father’s murder.

Ok, you just kept saying a one lane road before. A "one way" is different from a "one lane' which has two way traffic.

Sorry for not being more clear.

It makes a difference but makes more since now. I didn't realize he was on a one way road. Still I thought any residential road had to be a minimum of 12 feet wide. Even if it was a one way street. In the type of car he was driving he could have driven around it unless it was a private road that could be less than 12 foot in width.

There are too many reports that claim "it appeared he was targeted" to me to lean toward car jacking. But you never know.

I'm not saying it wasn't, but I would say that if the bolded from Cloudy Dayz post is true, I wonder. If it is the one way exit from a gated community, how reliable would that have been to target a specific person. It happened around 7:30 PM on a weeknight...not exactly a time when one could expect that there aren't people leaving the neighborhood for various reasons.

IDK, but the area he was killed was one in which there weren't any security cameras from houses or stores, and if they knew his routine and time of dropping off the kids, it would make sense. If they were targeting him, it wouldn't be at 2am it would be a time they knew he'd be on that road. It only took a few seconds to kill him.
