How is that marriage legally binding to the landlord? Are we supposed to believe she has brilliantly fouled the landlord's eviction plans? What a waste-of-time news report.
I love cats/dogs too, but if an apartment complex doesn't accept pets, find another. Other tenants may have moved in there because of that No Pets rule. Phobias... allergies... odors and pet hair... all of it plays a role when deciding on an apartment.
That's like moving into a non-smoking complex and then smoking anyway, and claiming the landlord is discriminating against you... or something.
She apparently can't keep a human male as a spouse, but maybe the cat is more willing to make a commitment. Kind of unnerving that this person used to be a life coach, seeing as how her own life seems to be a slow-motion train wreck.
Why not? You can't help who you love, right? With any luck vet bills will now be covered by insurance. If that were the case I'd marry my own pup. I suppose I'd have to be a lesbian first, though.
why didn't she just make the cat her emotionally support pet? there is a man here who has huge golden retriever and he gets away with haveing a large dog say it's his emotional support pet. He sold his house and moved in the condo then wanted to retire but couldn't because SS wasn't enough. He made a decent salary but SS is much lower. So he got a lawyer apparently a good one and got SSDI. That's how you get to keep your pet and get more money when you don't have children as dependents.

This is UK and different (less frivolous) laws.
A licensed doctors needs to assess whether your animal is needed for health reasons, and offer you an ESA letter to prove the qualification of your emotional pet. Not every pet qualify. And people with emotional disabilities may not have the same right to live in “No Pets” housing or travel in a passenger cabin with their emotional helpers as disabled people in the US.
What a stupid irresponsible person. She shouldn't own any pets especially since she already abandoned another cat and 2 large dogs for the same reason.
How about the irresponsible society that she lives in, that has allowed her to "legally" marry an animal.
What many will let fly over their head, is how this ruling (while seemingly innocuous, in and of itself) will have all sorts of unintended consequences.
