Sounds like a good son....with 1.5 billion and with still high population growth,
unlike China, India needs a lot more people like him.
Yeah, but some people want part of their DNA to live onto the youngest generation.
1.5 billion people and not one of them is a genetic grandson to these people. It could be said that this old couple isn't responsible for the mistake of others, particularly having children out of wedlock and/or being open to having unprotected sex but abandoning the child.
I new a bunch of Indian guys in college. Many of them were not thrilled with their parents and the arranged marriages. One guy told me if his mother didn't like the girl, the mom would basically make her life hell. His future wife was basically going to be uneducated. A couple of guys I know married outside of the system. Most eneded up doing as their parents wished.
By my American standerds, I think this son and daughter in law are doing the right thing. They don't owe their parents anything including a grandchild. I hope the parents lose their case.
This reminds me of the Indian man who sued his parents for being born.
Quote:
“I want everyone in India and the world to realize one thing that they are born without their consent. I want them to understand that they do not owe their parents anything,” he said. “If we are born without our consent, we should be maintained for our life. We should be paid by our parents to live.”
I knew India was quite parochial about marriage and childbearing, but I'm a little surprised to hear that the parents could sue the son for the wedding costs. Maybe Indian culture does see the parental coverage of the wedding costs as connected to childbearing. From my point of view, I can't imagine agreeing to that. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
They say that anyone can sue anyone else for any reason as long as they can find a lawyer to handle the case.
One must have a cause of action i.e. one cannot sue anyone else for any reason. :-) That said, some people are just nutty/unreasonable; they act relative to their emotion/hurt/anger sans (any thought to) a legal claim (or reality).
