What the woman who got killed did is totally stupid. You don't look for trouble because trouble might just find you. You just don't know who might be armed or how someone might react to banging on their car. Obviously shooting her is horrible and they just ruined their lives for nothing and took someone else's life.
If the story is being reported accurately, the victim was acting aggressively and the shooters may have a plausible case of being afraid for their safety. I don't think this particular case is as open-and-shut as aggressor shooters vs. innocent victim.
This happened in Bakersfield, CA. Pretty much daily life there.
One thing about this crime, it's all on video. I can't imagine that gas station, in that neighborhood, doesn't have good cameras everywhere. The cops probably don't need to ask a whole lot of questions, because they have all the video evidence they need.

The victim was still awake when LE arrived and gave them a description of the driver and car. The 2 perps were arrested that same night.

I know, but there won't be any "I was scared for my life, I thought she was going to kill me!" defense if the video clearly shows she posed no danger to their lives.
"Less-lethal 40 mm launcher" = bean bags? Never heard of this.
That'll leave a mark.
