Terrifying but quick. I would bet your body goes into that immediate shock that happens when you have severe physical trauma. A moment of extreme pain and then numbness as your brain tries to register the damage and response. I would doubt he felt much pain. Ugly way to go but quick and likely too fast for the brain to register pain.

Yup, every so often people fall or get pulled into wood chippers. They can be extremely dangerous.

Well, you can fall into something from the top or the side I suppose and it could be that the branch caught something made them stumble and fall in.

I was referencing a few cases where the guy did actually fall in from above.

Warning graphic:

I recall one guy fell in from above and his legs fit but not beyond that so they found him sticking out the top dead.

Chippers are very scary. We have one. You have to be careful what you wear, nothing loose.

Man, so horrible. I also feel bad for anyone that had to witness that, PTSD for sure.

His identity has been released. They're also saying he was pulled in verses falling in.

Apparently this company is known in that area that has a lot of trees.

Tree trimmer who died falling into wood chipper in Menlo Park identified; Cal/OSHA investigating

Cal/OSHA tells ABC7 News the tree services employee was pulled into the chipper during tree trimming operations.

Quote:
The workplace death was reported at 12:53 p.m. on the 900 block of Peggy Lane, where officers arrived to find the worker had died.

The man was identified as Jesus Contreras-Benitez. He was 47 years old and resided in Redwood City, according to the San Mateo County Coroner's Office.

Cal/OSHA described, "According to the outside source, the employee was pulled into the chipper during tree trimming operations."

Cal/OSHA will be investigating the death and has six months to issue citations if health and safety violations are found.

I'm not familiar with the name of the company, and I've lived in this area for almost 40 years - the truck does look familiar, though, so I probably just never noticed what they were called. And yes, we have a lot of trees here in northern California. That's true of California in general, aside from the desert parts of our state.

At any rate, very sad story. My thoughts go out to his family.
