Most people are or should be aware by now that GPS directions can be flawed. OK, that's reality. Paper maps and scribbled cocktail napkin notes can be wrong too. It's one thing to end up on the wrong street. Quite another to allow yourself to be lead by the nose despite your other senses screaming "Hang on a sec Houston, WE HAVE A PROBLEM. Probably should re-think driving into that big pool of wet stuff!" Seems common sense and the instinct for self preservation have gone the way of the dodo.

Our GPS has sometimes told us to take a left turn, while we are on a straight stretch of freeway, with no turns in sight We just ignore it. I always check the route out on my laptop before we depart so I have an idea of where we are going. If you drive into the water, you are stupid.
Yeah, and the one driver shown in the video who insisted upon retrieving personal effects before leaving the car was really stupid. The thing submerged immediately afterwards.
Others have been on a bridge and the car was driving itself and jumped into the lake/ river because the GPS said so. They need to put floating devices under cars so when these incidents start happening more and more with self-driving cars, the car can just float on the water instead of sink.
I used to live on the Big Island. GPS didn't work in many places because nobody had bothered to add them. If you tried to find my house, it would abandon you five miles away, when the pavement ended.
But nobody ever listens when you tell them that, they insist on using their phone, even when I tell the Apple maps will take them to the wrong place. Then they call me and want me to tell them how to get here, but they never know where they are.
Really, is the problem GPS, or people who don't pay attention?
