Unfortunate me, I once had a house and now have to rent... But a terrible thing that I came onto is that many[?] apts aren't bike friendly! Is that true? When I had my house I had 25+ bikes... I don't think I can have that many bikes in an apt now?

Oh, that sucks big time too.

What's your experience with bikes and apt renting too?

When I rented, I had a 2nd floor apt. At that time, I had a road bike and a mountain bike. That wasn't bad. You may have to think about thinning the herd.

Many HOUSES would have trouble storing 25 bikes; it's ridiculous to think you could ever store that many in the much more limited space of an apartment.

If the apartment rents individual garages, that might be a workable option for storing multiple bikes (although I can't imagine one big enough to store 25 bikes). Otherwise you might be looking at renting a large storage unit.

Switch to unicycles and you'll only need half the space!
I would look into the storage options after maybe selling/donating some bikes. I moved to an apartment from a house and had 4 bikes; I gave 2 to my nephews before I moved because I knew they would be taken care of and used.Even now only one is un-boxed; I use my more versatile mountain bike and keep the Italian racer stored because I can't bear to part with it!

25? I don’t think it’s the renting that’s the problem here my friend.

I've only got two that are actually ride-able and the rest are in pieces or in need of parts.
I would say that unless all those bicycles are ride-able, then it's time to cut down on the "project" herd and keep what could actually be used.

That said, I've been contemplating packing the "projects" up into the pickup and taking them down to a bike co-op in Albuquerque.
They've got the time, man-power, and resources to get those things back into running shape.

Man, I had a hard time renting back in the day when I only had one mountain bike. Used a patio closet to store in it, upright with the front wheel off. You just make adjustments.

But 25 bikes, or bike pieces? Man, it just isn't gonna work! Consider leaving some stuff in your car trunk or the bed of your truck. And don't forget those ceiling hooks that maybe could hold some stuff.
