Good morning all! How was everyone's holiday? So, the kids and I decided to come back a day early for a few reasons. I got myself up at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, woke the kids up at 5:30 and we were on the road before 6:00. Then the rain began. Needless to say, I don't do well in rain or snow and my hands were gripped so tight on the steering wheel they were numb. We breezed through NJ, Delaware, and then Maryland but once we hit Virginia it was bumper to bumper. Then, I took an alternate route into our home town and we were lost for a good hour. So needless to say, our 9 hour road trip turned out to be 15 hours. BUT, here we are and arrived safely. Off to work today. Coffee with sugar in the raw and soymilk......happy Tuesday everyone! Jeannie

Good morning and good to see everybody got back home safe and sound. I get white knuckles on I-95 too. It used to be worse when there was a toll stop in Richmond. Did you go through Richmond or around on the bypass? I am good at missing the bypass because, coming South, you exit on the left side. I think a lot of people miss the bypass because it is usually pretty empty. Once I missed I-85 just below Richmond and had to drive home through Raleigh. I did a lot of side roads and saw some pretty country, but it did take longer. We stopped and toured the capital building since we had gone out of the way. My daughter was with me and we were busy talking is why I missed it.

Thanks for the laugh on the thread title. I didn't do too good on the first "back to the grind" so maybe I can do better today. I sat down last night and wrote out a plan. Mr. VA commented on all the paper I was wasting when I discarded the third page. Lacey, I just bought some spinach. I made a huge salad last night. We couldn't eat it all, so I have leftovers today.

Diana, good to have you back. Hope everything goes well today. These are troubled times. I am glad you have good family around you. Things will work out for the best. Sometimes it is hard to think that, but looking back, they really do.

Coffee and milk
peach yogurt
banana

Rath, I am thinking about a second career. I have had a real estate brokers license for 30 years and have never used it. It was my insurance that I had something I could do to pay the bills in case something happened to my husband. It would be a little hard to support two children on a librarian's salary. I am planning to take a couple more years off until I get to the point that it doesn't matter how much I make with my SS and then I just may go back to work, or if Mr. VA retires, we may travel instead. Right now, I am just enjoying being a homemaker. Women used to do that all the time.

Jeannie, I like to listen to books on tape when I travel. They keep me awake while music makes me want to sleep. I realized how dangerous this probably was once when I realized I had just driven through Richmond and hadn't even noticed the traffic. That is being a little too relaxed!

NCN, It's not a great idea to get a Real Estate license for making a living but it's a great learning period to take some classes after you get a license, take classes thats offered in your office and real estate board.

Late again today. Lots to do at work which I'm really glad about.
It's 8:35 pm and I'm ready for bed. DH has to do a night shift again. From Sunday to Monday he had to go for the first time and in 10 years I didn't sleep very often without him. Needless to say that I couldn't sleep very well. Last night was better and I'm already tiered again today.

No news from work. Going to see the big boss tomorrow at 11 a.m. and I'm already only nerves. But I have to wait and see what the day will bring...

piece of apple pie for breakfast
1 pizza (thin) with tuna, onions, peppers, ham and mushrooms

Hey all.....

Had to drop my little kitten off at the vets today so my friend and I went to waffle house.
I had home fries with chees, toast with bacon and cheese (like a grilled cheese with bacon) and coffee
I made cookies today and had 2.
Will just fry some tomatoes with swiss cheese for dinner.
Not the greatest but I"m trying.

Wishing you all the best day and be happy!!
