Good morning! A mild looking day in NC can easily change in moments so I'm not sure what today will be like for us here. NCN, very glad you made it home safely. My 12 year old's baseball team is undefeated so far and last night my son finally listened to his Dad, choked up on the bat, stance was good and almost hit a home run. The ball bounced off the fence. I want to wish all of our food journal mommies and grandmommies a very happy Mother's Day tomorrow. You all deserve it. Coffee with sugar in the raw and soymilk.....happy Saturday! Jeannie

Before I was myself you made me, me
With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Allowing me to sail upon my sea,
Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me

With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,

And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.

For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.

Good morning Jeannie, Lacey, Lisa, Izzy, and Diana,

Beautiful poem. Both my children are to the age that they know exactly who they are and let me know they can take care of themselves. Whew! Time for me to turn into a kid again and go play.

It is so good to be back home. I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would leave an area like this and move to a tropical location. The humidity was oppressive. And I don't want to be rude, but swamps stink. Edisto is a beautiful island, but a lot of the houses are on stilts. We passed by one house that looked like it had a 500 feet boat dock through the swamp to the waterway. The house looked like it was almost setting in the swamp.

I have everything here they have there except the ocean and we went out to the ocean once. We have Cane Creek Park with a beach, riding/trails, fishing, paddle and pontoon boat rides, woods, etc. The Monroe Aquatic Center has swimming, gymn, aerobics in and out of the water, outside water area and are thinking about making an outside walking trail. And we have food in the area that you don't have to pay double digits for one person to eat. Nothing is much fun when you are hungry. My son and his wife love Edisto, but it is not my favorite. I do love the ride down Highway 174 to get there. Some areas of this road have huge trees on both sides of the road with moss hanging off them. It's like riding through paradise.

Coffee and milk
peanut bar

Good afternoon. Our TV problem has been solved. When they cut off the company road runner computer, they mistakenly cut off the TV cable too. It is fixed and I can see the weather again.
There are so many things I want to do. I guess I will have to settle down and take them one at a time. Now that I have help with the heavy stuff, I am planning to throw half the house away.

We will have lunch a little later and probably will be tomato soup and crackers. I don't eat a lot of crackers with mine.

Lacey, I have allergies and I think that island made me sick. I am feeling so much better now that we are home. I kept a headache a lot when we were down there and there were other symptoms I won't mention in case someone is eating while they read this.

Hi all-NCN know what you mean-the humidity is oppressive in that locale. I love going there in Oct/Nov. So sorry it ruined your vacation tho.

Had a whole wheat bagel w/veg cream cheese and later a Special K bar.

Tonight pepperoni and mushroom pizza and I'm planning 2 slices.

Tomorrow I'll make chicken salad for lunch with last night's leftovers and for dinner bar-b-cued baby back ribs, mac salad (low fat Hellmans), corn on the cob, salad.

Very Happy Mom's Day all.

Judi, nothing would have ruined this vacation. Those two little girls were a "trip" and so pretty. The three year old trys to push the little one around a little, but the one year old pays back by stealing the three years olds toys. LOL You cannot let them out of your sight for a minute. Our dil reminded the three year old that the one year old would be old enough to defend herself one day. I think she had better listen. The baby is growing like a weed.

After a trip to the grocery store, we had chicken dogs for dinner with slaw mix, relish, and onions. Cherry vanilla ice cream followed.
