Good morning! We are suppose to see some very missed sunshine today and tomorrow in the 60's and 70's. Today I need to try and get myself to the gym and then my daughter has a swim meet in Raleigh today. My 12 year old had his second try-out for the school basketball team yesterday.... After Monday's tryouts there will be the first cuts and then 2nd cuts after Tuesday. Unfortunately out of 52 kids trying out only 12 will make it. So, whats on your schedule for today? Coffee with sugar in the raw and soymilk so far......happy Saturday! Jeannie

Jeannie, now you are getting into the North Carolina sport--basketball. My daughter was the 13th player chosen on her team. She played all positions, but was listed as a forward. I didn't even know that until we went back to her school for a reunion of the players who had won the State 2-A Championship with their coach and now UNC-Charlotte men's coach, Bobby Lutz. They were the half-time show. Our granddaughter made quite a splash when my daughter was introduced and went out to stand with her team and her daughter ran across the court yelling "Mommie" and insisted on standing with her. The crowd loved it. Grandma and Pepaw were not fast enough to stop her. She has her Mom's long legs.

I felt so sorry for the girls team having to play that night while the championship team watched them. They didn't seem to realize they could do no wrong in the older girls eyes. It was their school's team.

Coffee and milk and soon to have another one.
banana

NCN, what wonderful memories. Unfortunately for my son who is 12 years old, has not had a growth spurt yet and is only around 5 ft. 3 inches tall. We are hopeful though because his Dad is 6 ft. 4 inches tall. Other kids are bigger and that is what they look for in this sport. He does have a good attitude about it though. He said he'll still be playing recreational basketball beginning next week (my husband is head coach) and he always has next year to try-out. I still have my fingers crossed for him though.

breakfast...

oatmeal with fresh blueberries and soymilk
water with lemons
supplements

My children never got to play baseball because they had to try out and there are so many good baseball players around her. Have your son look at Bobby Lutz. Sounds like he is almost as tall as Coach Lutz. When you are shorter, you just have to use your brain more.

We went to the grocery store today. Not a really good idea. It is a little hard to get through the grocery store when you know everybody. I saw people today I had not seen in three years.

Jeannie, there are several books in the library about techniques to use in basketball. I brought some of them home for my daughter and she learned how to rebound. If the other team didn't get the shot in the basket the first time, they didn't get a second chance and she shot a lot of foul shots because they would foul her because she had learned hot to get into position. Basketball instruction books are 796.32 Dewey number.
