I'm leaning towards a relocation to Dallas and am curious about job prospects...

I have experience in commercial real estate, insurance, internet and automotive industries.

Questions:
Can anyone help direct me towards excellent/relevant forums or networks?
What type of wait could I be facing?
What are salaries/benefits like in Dallas?

Thanks in advance.

Actually...something else!

Sales is my profession and I would really prefer to share my skills/experiences and manage a sales force. But I am open to just about anything, have my degree in Bus. Ad.

Check out Craigslist, lots of sales jobs. A lot of them are pretty crappy, but there are some good ones in there.

If you decide to look at auto sales, PM me. I worked in it for several years around D/FW.

I will check out Craigs list...am not to hot on automotive, although it did pay ok. Just looking 9 to 5, quality of life.

Default Checked out Craigs list and

...was not impressed. Is there some kind of internet employment site that is specific to the Dallas Metro area? I keep finding that I need to actually live in Dallas before I get any responses...which is frustrating because I am trying to do my best research on an area before I move!
Looks like I will have to just "go for it" and hope for the best. Does anyone have any input? Or am I being to cautious?

Thanks in advance!

Just pull the trigger, move here, live around uptown/downtown. Assuming you are a single male. I suggest checking out Uptown tower, with a great bar called Frankie's down at street level.

You will not regret it.

You can get a "whatever" job fairly quickly in some lower-level position than you might eventually want, but it will get you here. Mortgage, debt settlement, that kind of thing. I have a background similar to yours, from what I can tell, and I'm moving up North to escape the heat and live differently, and get my MBA. I mention this because I recently realized that, man, I just need to get myself up there, take a job that keeps money coming in, and look for something more substantial once I get there.

Default Thanks!

I very much appreciate your input...as you indicated there is only so much research you can do then you just should go for it! It is nice to have this forum to help us "potential transplants".

I have worked (and prospered thru promotions) in a crappy desert town in Arizona and am a proven survivor. I was in Dallas a few years back and had a great time and thought it would be a great place to live for the next 5 to 10 years.

Will be moving Sept 1st! I think the Uptown area will be where I set my roots.
