We moved here in Aug due to job relocation and have been living in an apt near Willow Bend Mall in W. Plano. Our house in FL has sold and now we get to look for a home for our family, hopefully to stay in for 12-15 years.
Who wants to give some recommendations?
What we are looking for:
close to tollway since hubby drives to Love Field
excellent schools
family oriented neighborhood with activities, pool, park, walking trails
price range $200K-$300K for at least 2,500 sq ft
close to grocery shopping and restaurants

We LOVE the area where we are, near Willow Bend Mall, but prices are a bit high for us. We also like "The Trails" in Frisco. Can you suggest any other areas to look into with good quality builders etc?

BTW, we will work with a realtor, but have not chosen one yet.

For me, commute is #1. Having the neighborhood pool and bunco club isn't worth much if your husband is spending an extra 30 minutes each way driving. Get yourself as close to Love Field as you can.

The downside is that you'll have to settle for a "used" home. But new construction in that price range is waaay out there, and the price paid in quality of life isn't listed on the price tag.

You can go as far south as Trinity Mills in Dallas and still be in Plano ISD. You'd also only be a short drive from your current 'hood. Here's one that meets your specs and even throws in a pool.

When we relocated here from Greenwich ,Ct we decided that work commute could be 30 minutes max.We work off the tollway. We were not pleased with what we found in Plano and north Dallas in our price range ($400,000 limit ).We ended up building brand new in Prosper and love it.We wanted an area that felt like home to us with large lot neighborhoods throughout the enire town and no back alley ways.We loved the trees and rolling hills in Prosper and West Mc kinney. If you do Frisco check out Christie Farms off Eldorado.Easy tollway access in a great part of Frisco.

We live in northwest Frisco near the corner of Eldorado and Teel. There are so many subdivisions in this area in your price range. The tollway is very close, and the schools are awesome. Lots of families, activities, amenities, and great neighbors. We have lived here for 3 years, and I can't say enough great things about this area.

Moderator cut: see comment

I encourage you to drive down Teel. I think you'll find a lot of great homes in this area.

Good luck!!!
