Another option is to take the TRE/DART to work. I had a friend who lived in your area and she ended up taking the TRE/DART to her job at Mockingbird Station each day because the traffic was unbearable. The train took a little longer, but she was able to work and/or rest instead of sit in traffic.

Depending on where you live, you could board at Hurst/Bell Station for a 1hr10min commute, or Centreport Station for a 1 hour commute. FYI, Centreport Station will be the new TRE fare boundary beginning December 6, so it would only require a single zone pass.

Trinity Railway Express (TRE)

Google Maps has a transit option to help you determine commute times.

The Northwest Highway and Royal Lane routes are the best - and most direct- anyone had mentioned.
Very true, take 183 to NW Highway, take that all the way up to 75. Only problem is with 114/121 under construction for the next five years and 183 will be under construction soon too. Everything coming from the mid-cities into Dallas is going to be a pain.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I am going to use them. 121 is getting awful...I was stuck in horrible construction traffic around Grapevine last Sat. eve. It took 1 hour to go from Bedford to Flower Mound. It normally takes 25 min.

I never thought of using public transportation. That may be the way to go or at least for some of the days to give me a break and a little variety.

Go to Google Maps, and plot a route, but under Show Options, check "Avoid Highways", and "Avoid Tolls", and see what route it shows. I live in Arlington, and used to commute to work near the Galleria in Dallas. Highways were always bogging down with traffic accidents, construction, etc. The off-freeway route Google gave me, though longer than Sunday on 635, it was always consistent driving time, and pretty stress-free driving.
