Went for a 3 miler with the wife and kid in the BOB today. Normally we run down Mckinney towards downtown but veered off to Katy Trail.

It's nice enough, but pretty narrow, the bikes don't help (really don't help) and it's fairly crowded. In Philadelphia, we ran on city streets so I just don't see why being on the Katy Trail is the end-all-be-all especially as some realtors seem to think it makes an otherwise crappy house a great find.

To an outsider, it might not seem like a lot. And Dallas is a modern city when compared to the ancient city of Philadelphia and its classic ruins. Just kidding.
Actually, the Katy Trial ties a lot of things together, The VP area that used to be a waste dump, the classic Turtle Creek area that parallels it for much of the way, Uptown, the West Village area, and, finally, Mockingbird Station.

Philly is a rough town, real-estate's a crazy game there. You can renovate but usually have to keep the original effacement of bricks from the 1880's row-houses.

I like it because as a runner or cyclist, you can keep moving and not have to stop every other street for a light or traffic. Of course, I can do the same at White Rock, but the Katy Trail is 1 block from my condo.

It's a good use of space that was vacant after the M-K-T railroad shut down and better not to have the homeless/vagrants ruling the space anymore.

The weather was great today, for a winter day in January and it's Saturday. I would be surprised if there weren't many people there, especially with snow in the forecast for tomorrow. My daughter has a friend that lives at Cornell & Airlline, she goes over there occasionally to walk the trail with her, very convenient.

We have a friend who was literally chased down the trail back towards his apartment by a homeless man. It was weird, according to him.

I don't get there often, but it is nice to have a relatively safe place to run, especially when it is more crowded. It's hard to find a populated area without traffic to run in this area.

I prefer running in the mean streets of Uptown. Course drivers don't seem to look out for runners.
