I have seen ads for a Super Bowl Rental Listing site. Click here to see the site. The ads claims Texans can make $1500 - $20000 from their rooms / property. They mention many people are going to be in DFW for Super Bowl and need a place to stay and Super Bowl fans are playing $1500 to $20000 for rentals.

I am thinking of signing up.

Has any tried something, like this? Its seems real to me, plus there is a guarantee. What you think?

Renting one of my properties close to the stadium. 3/2, attached garage for 5 days, w/ $1,500 deposit up front. $250/night. House was rented(paid in full)/deposit secured 2 months ago. Some numbers are seriously inflated, but making $1000+ for a week is not bad.

For some of those sites...they take 80%+ of your profits in fee's to you and your renter.

I don't know if that site is legit or not, but yes, some people are renting out their homes during the super bowl.

I would think twice- how will you pay for potential property damages from your renters, who have come to Dallas to party-hardy? Will your insurance cover damage done while you were not living in the property? Will you move out all your personal belongings (clothes, etc) or do you not care if strangers go through your stuff?

In theory, sounds like good quick money.

In reality, is probably more of a PITA than it's worth.

I still own a couple of townhomes in the Metroplex and I'm renting one of them out to a family coming in from the East Coast for about $275/night with a $1000 deposit. I rented it out for the All-Star game last year and made some decent money to a group of people from Chicago.

There was a group of party-hardy women I know where I live now who wanted to rent from me for Super Bowl, but they act like they're always ready for a hot sausage and a good fight and I knew it would take more than the security deposit they wouldn't be getting back from me if they scratched the furniture.

Interesting. It seems the site only has a flat listing fee and you keep any monies between you and the renter.

Yeah, one would have to screen possible guests.

Did you talk them on phone / meet in person / etc to get a feel for who they were?

I spoke with them on the phone first, but I was referred to them from people I knew personally. The Chicago group had a relative in the area I live in now and we communicated through Skype. They sent me money orders for the deposit. If people didn't have the money or were asking for immediate discounts, I dismissed them immediately.
