I almost put Minyard's but the one closest to me closed up a few years ago. For some reason I thought they all closed OR changed their name since they are owned by someone else now and for some odd reason thought it was Carnival. Oh well.

I had no idea Minyard's was still in business. I haven't seen one of their stores in several years.

Minyard has locations in Dallas, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Balch Springs, Mesquite, Fort Worth, and Irving.

Here's a Minyard in Oak Cliff

Not odd at all. The now-abandoned Carnival concept was the Hispanic-oriented brand of Minyard's. When they sold the Carnival stores to Fiesta, they kept a couple of locations for themselves and converted them to Minyard's.

Forgot Brookshire's. The one in Quinlan is REALLY NICE!

I didn't even mention the smaller stores like Urban Market. Or the many smaller and even pretty large ethnic markets.

Well they kind of are with Central Market, but yeah I agree, I liked HEB. (I love Central Market though, especially their spices and coffee, cheap and high quality.)
