Hi guys,
My wife and I are relocating to Plano in a couple of months.
I've flown in and driven around North D and Plano and found the zip to appeal to what we are looking for.
Plan is to initially rent for 6-9 months and then hopefully buy.

Is there any particular apartments your guys recommend?
Ideally we would like a house or townhouse to rent, but an apartment with a big(er) patio for the pup would work for a few months.

Also...FiOS! From what I've read here that is the way to go.
I plugged the address of a complex I visited in 75093 and the Verizon site said the service is not provided in the 75093. Is that true?

As far as wireless... I guess V is the way to go as well, no that they got the iPhone...

Any recommendations on utilities?

Also, I was looking at cars and I bumped into an ad where the gentleman listed a car and said it had a "blue title". Does that mean something to you guys?

That's all I got. I hope I didn't babble to much. Thanks in advance!

FIOS is definitely the way to go for internet (And TV I suppose). If you visited the complex that was in that zip, did you not ask them if they have FIOS? They've got to be wired for FIOS to have it, and many apartment complexes that are even in FIOS territory don't necessarily offer FIOS. Yes that means in theory you could have a house next door that has FIOS, but in your apt complex they don't have it wired for FIOS so you won't be able to get it.

I don't know if 75093 is FIOS or not, but for any apartment complex you should just ask them because many will not.

For utilities (electric), you go to the website powertochoose.org and find a good rate for a good term, unless you end up somewhere that they don't allow you to choose [that does happen often, again worth asking if you can choose your elec provider at that complex or not]

Yes, 75093 has Verizon FiOS...and FiOS is great. The fiber-optic to cable modem has built-in wireless for Internet. Keep in mind that with FiOS if you want HD, which most people do, it requires a set-top box for each television.

You may want to look into The Preserve at Arbor Hills Apartments. I only know where they are located, but have never been in one. They have listed (on their website) a number of different size apartments and floor plans available...some with patios.

Natural Gas will be Atmos Energy with no other choice. With electricity you have many choices and various rate plans available. I like StarTex Power.

A Texas "Blue Title" is a good (clean) title...unlike a duplicate title, a salvaged vehicle title, a rebuilt salvaged vehicle title.

75093 is the prime zipcode for Plano. Fios is indeed the way to go, Verizon and ATT U-verse offer it. As Pappy said, the complex you choose may require you to go with what they have, same with the utilities.

Yup, if the complex doesn't have offer FIOS, I don't think you'll be able to get it independently in an apartment in that complex. So you need to ask upfront if they have FIOS. If don't know or are clueless as to what you are talking about, it's a no. Any complex that has Verizon FIOS knows full well that they have it and offer it.

that iPhone is 3g mind you..Rolling out a 4g network and simultaneously announcing the iPhone in 3g is one of the dumber things I have seen VZW do...I most certainly wouldn't get excited about it since you will pay for that iPhone and (in typical Apple fashion) the 4g version will most likely be out around 1Q12.

Supposedly the following complexes DO have FiOS and are in the 75093 zip code. Of course you'll need to call to verify:

Summer Meadows
Summers Crossing
Cottages at Tulane

http://www.apartmentguide.com/apartm...sortby=verizon will show you all (most) the complexes in the metro that have FIOS.
