Dallas has Union Station. There has never been talk of demolishing it, so far as I know:

It was renovated and restored in the late 1970s.

In addition to Reunion, Ft. Worth has a train station that is phenomenal. If you ever take the TRE, take it to the very end. It looks like someone locked the doors sometime in the late 30's or early 40's and never came back. Subway tile along the tunnels, old brass clocks, and a stainless steel diner.

Yes, these are bad economic times for everyone including business and home-owners, but I wonder if your state and local municipalities code enforcers will listen to that argument, were they to visit a house or a business surrounded in weeds, overgrown grass, over grown tree limbs, with trash and filth to match.

Plus, there are thoroughfares in the Metroplex that are immaculate, most noticeably George Bush Turnpike and Central Expwy that have manicured virtual gardens along their paths.

All rail lines I've been on, including those in Europe, had disgusting trash/graffiti and unkempt bushes along it at some point. That's just how it is.

Oh, very nice LW! I didn't know.

Re demolishing - the pic I included in my post was Penn Station which was demolished and replaced by Madison Sq Garden. It's considered to be one of NYC's greatest architectural losses.

The inside - what a loss, huh?

Question...with the overwhelming majority of responses in this thread being opposed to the OP's proposal, why did you single me out to snark at?

Not directed at me, and I can't find my pix right now, but if you follow the link, you can get an idea of what I was talking about.
