I would have said you had a decent shot to get a job...
just goes to show how tight the job market it
and nepotism has always been a factor in getting a job in this part of Tx from what I have seen over the past 20 yrs--not just recently
I asked before we moved (I remember you telling me it would be tough) but I had no choice because of husband's job.
I'm a new teacher, so that worked against me, but I am about as qualified as you can get, and I have a specialized reading background to boot (language processing disorders and dyslexia are my focus and I am knowledgeable about multisensory teaching methods) and I still only had two interviews in 12 months.
DFW is NOT the place to be for a career switcher teacher.

Did you apply at the private LD schools - Shelton, Fairhill, Dallas Academy, Oak Hill, etc?

this is not the time to be trying to get interview
most principals still don't know if they will have any vacancies and I bet when school starts in August that with people moving around and new people STILL moving into DFW area that some schools are going to have to open new classrooms--
there is just a finite # of bodies than can fit into a classroom--
August is when you can try again--and you might get lucky

someone with those special skills should have been able to get a job in a rational environment--unfortunately the state's legislators and Gov Perry are irrational and have made this entire funding process rife with irrational beliefs and objectives...
