It's cool outside and I want to leave windows open but no one in my neighborhood doing so. Is it because of safety concern?

I sleep with the windows open in the spring and fall, and I have never had to worry about crime in our neighborhood. But it is far too hot and humid for me to do this in the summer!!

Too hot now but if my bedroom was on the 2nd floor I'd open the windows on cool nights. Otherwise, no. Our bedroom windows are at street level so for peace of mind we never open them. Also teenagers live in the house across the side street where our windows face. They and their friends often gather and chat in the front circle drive. All nice kids but that's where they often hang -- and they are sometimes out there pretty late at night.

Why would you post that it is cool at night here in DFW???

We just came back from 4 nights in San Diego--THAT was cool at night--in the 60s--
loved it!!!
only person of our 5 traveling together who was not wearing a fleece/jacket at night (or during the day for some of them)
we stayed in La Jolla and the temps day and night were LOVELY--
but went to wedding in Point Loma Saturday with outdoor reception and everyone got sunburn--not really hot but very sun-intensive

Loved the San Diego/La Jolla weather but not so much other aspects...so definitely not looking forward to the rest of summer time on this grill we call DFW...

(have to cut my grass today--need to get started--already over 85)
