My husband and I are planning a move to Dallas in the next few months and are considering the Wynnewwod North neighborhood. From what I can find online, it looks like housing prices are relatively low, but there may be more crime/safety concerns than in other Dallas neighborhoods that we are potentially interested in, such as Lakewood, Old East Dallas and Kessler Park - is this accurate? We're looking to spend $300-400K for our home and in addition to wanting a relatively safe area, would also like to be in a "walkable" neighborhood. I would greatly appreciate any insight from residents of any of these neighborhoods. Thanks in advance!

Where is Wynnewood North? I've never heard of it. What are the cross streets or boundaries? I'm not going to be able to help you, but was just curious.

So, is that a gay neighborhood or something? I just looked at some pictures of a Fall function they had on their HOA's website and it looks like there are a lot of gay folks sprinkled in with some original owners.

Wynnewood, like some other parts of beautiful north Oak Cliff, have lovely homes nestled in the prettiest topography in the Dallas area. Wynnewood is full of unique, mid-century homes. From what I understand, there are a lot of gay people who have purchased homes there since it's convenient to downtown and most don't have to worry about schools (it's in DISD). Until recently, homes could be purchased relatively inexpensively but property values have skyrocketed in some areas. If you don't mind diversity and have an open mind, the Wynnewood area is great. I have an elderly great aunt who's in her 90's and has lived in Wynnewood since the 1950's (when her house was new) and she has gay neighbors on one side and several others on her street. They love her and she loves them. Plus, her neighbors have done amazing and beautiful things to their homes - and have spent a fortune doing them. As the homes around her have turned, they've been purchased by couples (both gay and straight) but few have children. I've noticed that, when a young couple starts having children, they tend to move elsewhere. That might change, however, but that's how it's been in the last few years.
